The good news is that it's high in magnesium and is considered a superfood. So go on, tuck in, just make sure it contains a high percentage of cocoa (at least 60%)

Magnesium is involved in hundreds of chemical reactions in your body, including:

- making protein, bone and DNA

It is an extremely important mineral and you can meet your daily needs by eating the right foods. Here are 6 healthy foods that are high in magnesium.

1. Tofu - Also protects the cells lining your arteries and reduces your risk of stomach cancer

2. Black Beans - Legumes are rich in fiber and have a low glycemic index (GI), they may lower cholesterol, improve blood sugar levels and decrease the risk of heart disease.

3. Dark Chocolate - Itโ€™s also beneficial for gut and heart health and loaded with antioxidants.

4. Pumpkin Seeds - Seeds are rich in iron, monounsaturated fat and omega-3 fatty acids. They're extremely high in fiber and contain antioxidants, which protect your cells.

5. Cashew Nuts - Most nuts are a good source of fiber and monounsaturated fat and have been shown to improve blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

6. Spinach - Extremely healthy, and loaded with magnesium. They're are also an excellent source of several nutrients, including iron, manganese and vitamins A, C and K.
